I've got to admit, as per usual I've never heard of half the lineup. Has anybody got any recommendations? I've looked at a lot of the acts on Myspace and so far have been very impressed with Alela Diane.

I started out with a deliberate policy of not trying to get to know that bands I hadn't heard of, in the hope that I'd get some excellent surprises over the course of the weekend.
Since I spent an afternoon finding links for them all, it was hard not to catch at least a few bars of a lot of them, and now I pretty much want to see all of them.
King Creosote is my main, must not miss act so far. I'm also looking forward to Vetiver.

King Creosote, The Aliens, James Yorkston (Chris, you look like him) james is the human in the background by the way. and Gruff..... then i'll just wander about the rest of the time like last year, catching the odd gem here and there....... my downloading capacity was at it's limit after the greenman festival last year..... luckily I now have unlimited dowloading capacity.......

My must sees:
Friday Joanna Newsom (loving Ys) Euros Childs (never seen him solo before) King Creosote (was excellent last year) Richard James (saw him recently in Manchester, very good)
Saturday Robert Plant (legend) Vashti Bunyon Broken Family Band Nancy Elizabeth Cunliffe (saw her supporting Fionn Regan in Manc last year, excellent) Voice Of The Seven Woods (quality peddle self-sampler)
Sunday Stephen Malkmus (a MUST) Devendra Banhart Gruff Rhys (last years personal highlight) The Ealies Malcolm Middleton (new album 'A Brighter Beat' highly recommended) Misty's Big Adventure Yellow Moon Band (formally known as Its Jo & Danny)

Saturday -------------- The Beep Seals Clinic Six Organs of admittance Probably saturday is the day im likely to find some new acts as i don't know many.
Sunday ----------------- Stephen Malkmus (Pavement are one of my favourite bands, his solo albums aren't too shabby neither) Gruff Rhys (Same with SFA) Devandra Banhart (Amazing live when i last saw him) The Earlies (As above) Malcolm Middleton Soft Hearted Scientists The Aliens (clashing with malkmus it would appear though)

I'd like to watch The Aliens as I missed them last year, but it's gotta be Malkmus for me. I've not got his latest, Face The Truth, but Pig Lib is a fantastic album.

:)My selection:
Friday Euros Childs Fanfarlo King Creosote Richard James Gilbert (check out his myspace site for 4 great tunes!)
Saturday Robert Plant Vashti Bunyan Richmond Fontaine Vetiver PG Six Monkey Swallows the Universe (my great 'find' of the festival, again check out their myspace site) James Yorkston (my festival highlight?) Six Organs of Admittance
Sunday Gruff Rhys Alasdair Roberts John Renbourn 9 Bach Herman Dune (anybody hwo cites the great Jonathan Richman as a major influence HAS to be good)
Given that half of these probably clash and that I'll be spending half my time with the kids in the children's area that's probably a hugely optimistic list!

I'm a bit miffed that Herman Dune are clashing with Devendra Banhart, not sure which I'll choose.
Of the folk I haven't seen before, most looking forward to Diane Cluck, Six Organs Of Admittance, and Starless And Bible Black.

I've seen herman dune before but they were a bit strange hence why id love to see them again, but then i also think when am i going to see devendra banhart again?...

I live in Stockton-on-Tees (although originally from Hartlepool), so i will be at the Riverside festival with some of my mates (fellow members on here)........ looking forward to the Bunnymen, Archie Bronson Outfit and The Aliens (who were excellent at the festival last year)....... it's always a great weekend....... and Stephen Fretwell plays a Free gig at the Georgian Theatre on Saturday too...... and did you see Herman Dune at the Georgian last year? Don't think they were on the ball at that gig.... but nejoyed it all the same.

Looking forward to Six Organs, lovely floaty stuff. Especially like that one track ep thing they did.
Newsome will be ace, and Euros is most certainly great live. He even did hand actions last time he was on in Manchester.
And palesaint, Archie Bronson Outfit rock my tits off.

And palesaint, Archie Bronson Outfit rock my tits off. the first time i had ever heard of Archie Bronson Outift was last year at Greenman wehn i seen them live, absolutley amazing. 'Derdang Derdang' is a fantastic LP too, i was unsure what they would sound like on record after seeing them live.....
