Does anyone have any recommendations from this year's Walled Garden line-up they would care to share? In previous years I could have spent the entire weekend there, but this time around I'm not finding anything that appeals at all! For reference I like anything guitary, folky or a bit unusual - Wave Pictures, Joan Shelley, Teleman, Unthanks, PSB, Sea Power, etc... perhaps I'm just getting old!

based on your likes, i'd have a punt on the following:
on the friday -
gently tender - sam has a cracking voice - and they're a bit more folky than a quick listen to the album might suggest
rozi plain - served time in so many other folks' bands - but her own thing has always been my favourite (though, tbh, i'll probably be watching devo!)
on the saturday -
aoife nessa frances - there are guitars, there is folk - but there may also be a harp (being played like an electric guitar), some squeaky FX, and all round general... askewness
on the sunday -
clara mann - another amazing voice - sometimes acapella - though she does seem to be clashing with jake xerxes fussell at the moment - which is silly

Thursday evening in the Walled Garden should be great. The Gentle Good ticks your guitary-folky box, Sister Wives (psychy) and Rogue Jones (psych-folk) might be up your street and the Bug Club will be awesome. If all those names in your post were playing this year I’d be incredibly happy.

Can i add from Friday the wonderful Buck Meek(the guitarist from Big Thief) and the incredible Juni Habel, whose new album Carvings is one of my favourites of the year so far, beautiful fingerpicked guitar, a must see in my book
On Saturday there is Josephine Foster (i think we can call her a legend of American roots folk) and Spencer Cullum
Then on the Sunday i'm sure you'll love Corey Hansen(from Ty Segalls band)- guitars man
I'm looking forward to all these acts immensely, i can't wait

Amazing, thanks all - looks like I've just been picking the wrong names (Water From Your Eyes, for example - what on Earth is that all about?) in my YouTube exploration!

As always I’ll be spending most of my time in the Walled Garden. An added advantage is Adam Walton’s impeccable taste.

Yeah, that one GM (the post Covid one?) without Adam in the WG was definitely a lesser place for it. Agreeing that Josephine Foster is the stand-out name. And she played GM in 2006- might be in for a bit of a shock....

From the WG line up I’m planning to see:
Thursday: Aisha Vaughn, Rogue Jones and Sister Wives. Friday: Juni Habel, Salami Rose Joe Louis Saturday: Josephine Foster (as much as possible after Lankum ofc), Water From Your Eyes, clipping. Sunday: probably no one due to clashes but would like to see Nuha Ruby Ra and Arushi Jain.
clipping. are probably the act I am most looking forward to on the line up. They’re an industrial/experimental hip hop group. Really exciting and unusual booking for GM. I’m also really looking forward to seeing Juni Habel (great folk album this year) and Water From Your Eyes. I can see why some people would hate WFYE but I think they’re pretty interesting/cool. I also really like Arushi Jain - who combines modular synth work with traditional Indian classical music - but she sadly likely clashes with Les Savy Fav who are a must see.

Julie Byrne should be in the Walled Garden. Her new album is gorgeous but it’s a delicate thing, I fear it will get lost in front of the mountain stage afternoon chatterers.

Agree re: Julie Byrne. The album is incredible. Think it might be my AOTY so far. Ichiko Aoba did well on the Mountain Stage last year and she’s probably even more stripped back than Julie so hopefully it works!

Citing wind issues. At EOTR 2 weeks later she didn't even start. Her musicians just stood there... WTF! Lovely album though. Hopefully she's a little weather hardier this time... It wasn't even windy!

tbh, that new julie byrne album is doing nowt for me
i loved the previous one
but she was so annoying when we went to see her that i haven't listened to it since
thought i'd give the new one a go - but it just meanders about a bit, doesn't it?
it's getting a ton of press - but that's really because of the (admittedly horribly sad) back story
i might give her the benefit of the doubt at GM - based on there being flap all else on at the time
but the reports above don't bode well

Not Walled Garden (although she'd be great there), but... Courtney Marie Andrews! It baffles me how she's not bigger. Seems to have roughly the same billing as the last time she played a few years ago now? Anywhoo, she is utterly terrific. Sounds like you might enjoy Snail Mail, too? That is Walled Garden.

I forgot to mention Bug Club on Thursday night, they will be a lot of fun.
I think Snail Mail are in the tent this year, but will still be great.

That is Walled Garden. i second that emotion she was with a full band last time, i think, in 2018 - doing the 'may your kindness remain' material a lot of the touring for the new record has been solo so that may explain why she's not higher up the order agree that she'd be far better in the walled garden and also if she didn't clash with aoife nessa frances!
