so - now we know who's playing, what are we all looking forward to? not a great bill for me this year, tbh but a few things that'll be cracking not the least of which is johnny pictish's new 'weird wave' thing which i thought was just going to be a bunch of lost map folks playing one after the other - but turns out to be an actual band one that ought to get us all suitably going on the thursday, it seems: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzaRCrqUyHw

Struggling to find the usual excitement this year, not sure if it's the lineup or not. That said, also looking forward to the Lost Map thing, Devo, Lankum, Gilla Band, Mandy Indiana, Gina Birch, sure there'll be others I'll stumble across

Not a great line-up for me either. To pick 3 though: Kanda Bongo Man (who I last saw nearly 40 years ago), The Walkmen, Thus Love.

I’m sure I’ll get more excited nearer the time but don’t have the usual enthusiasm just yet.
Looking forward to: Bug Club; Sister Wives; Melin Melyn; Soencer Cullum; Kanda Bongo Man; Afro Cluster (Chai Wallahs); H Hawkline; DD Darillo; Wedding Present.

Missing GM for first time in years, but seeing that lineup can't say I'm fussed. And when you see what EOTR have on offer, think it's a particularly poor effort. Always a magical weekend at Glanusk whatever, but I'm giving Deer Shed a go this year (much, much closer to home) and happy with that decision. No doubt I'll be craving the Black Mountains come August though.

Just started working through my unknown bands, really enjoying Gently Tender( new band from singer of much hyped Palma Violets) and Floodlights are interesting but I need another listen.I also like Butch Kassidy( I might be on my own with that one but I enjoy a little noise every now and again at a festival) and Crows who are excellent live.Only just started with Thursday and half of Friday but will listen to the rest tomorrow.

Yeah, it's unusual for GM to do this but it's a weak Sunday in my opinion- though I'm told Young Fathers are incredible live and Les Savy Fav were well worth watching when I last saw them live in about 2001! I do genuinely think the Friday and Saturday are exciting though, and I expect to do quite a few fast transitions between stages to catch as many must-sees as possible.
Did think of doing EOTR instead this year but for me- as much as I'd love to see Wilco, Arooj Aftab and Dungen- it's not a classic EOTR lineup. Deer Shed is on my radar if I fancy a second festival next year- heard good things and plenty for me in the lineup.

Very excited over here! I’m not a GM veteran but have been going since 2018. One of the highlights of the year!
Line up seems great to me, although I’m not fussed about the three main headliners (have seen FAK and Self Esteem before).
My headliners will be Slowdive, clipping. and Young Fathers. An excellent trio for my tastes. Slowdive are one of my favourite bands of all time and haven’t seen them before. Clipping are a fantastic experimental hip hop group who I’ve also not seen before. Very exciting booking and should be brilliant. You might no Daveed (vocalist) from Hamilton. He won a Tony Award for his roles as Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson. Clipping are probably the most critically acclaimed hip hop group of the 2020s (and also have some great albums released before then). Young Fathers are also fantastic. Saw them earlier this year and they were brilliant. Check out their Glastonbury set on YouTube.
Other acts I’m very excited for: - Les Savy Fav - Sudan Archives - Gilla Band - Deathcrash - Lankum - Julie Byrne (new album has just come out and it’s brilliant) - Dur Dur Band - Etran de l’air - Jockstrap - Anna B Savage - James Holden - Daniel Avery - Mega Bog - Julie - water from your eyes - squid - Yasmin Williams - Obongjayar - Jake Xerxes Fussell - Butch Kassidy

Lots of acts to get excited about this year (apart from ones already mentioned): The Comet Is Coming (jazz/rave, and genuinely one of the best live acts ive ever seen. Splitting up at the end of the year, so make sure you catch them if you havent before). Special Interest (disco funk/punk). Confidence Man (v fun pop/dance). Horace Andy (reggea legend who will hopefully throw in a couple of Massive Attack numbers). Bob Vylan (excellent shouty punk). Amyl and the Sniffers (more fun shouty punk rock).
On the non-musical side: Dylan Moran & Jain Edwards are both good. Martin Parr & Luke Turner v interesting for a sit-down and a chat.

Blackpumpkinhead said he likes Crows live.... I'll probably give them a try too, especially if they make a nest out of anti-bird spikes. www.theguardian.com/science/2023/jul/11/crows-and-magpies-show-their-metal-by-using-anti-bird-spikes-to-build-nestsDoing some listening to stuff that's new to me. Sister Wives and Floodlights have jumped out so far. Looking at Clashfinder, we still have half a dozen acts to be announced including a couple on Far Out. And are DEVO really only playing until 11:30 as Clashfinder says? Hoping there'll be a good stagger so that we can see most of Slowdive too. If I recall correctly last year it was possible to catch most of Kraftwerk's AND Cate Le Bon's sets on the Friday.

Re: the clashfinder, it’s mainly just guesswork at the moment based on the day splits and past timings. It should be fairly accurate but timings will shift around a bit no doubt (Kraftwerk finished at 11.30 last year). I think there are a handful more acts to be announced. Seems to be space for three on Walled Garden and possibly one on FO as well. There’s the Rising competition winner to be added to Friday main stage and then I think the other four finalists will be added to the Rising Stage. We know that DEVO and Slowdive overlap for 30 mins as GM confirmed as much on Twitter. So it’ll definitely be possible to see most of both. I’m gunna do all of Slowdive before heading to a bit of DEVO then back to the tent for Daniel Avery.

Anyway here go's and see you all soon.
1.Devo 2.Spiritualized 3.Juni Habel 4.The Walkmen 5.Goat 6.Courtney Marie Andrews 7.Jake Xerxes Fussell 8.The Delgados 9.Buck Meek 10.Spencer Cullum

For me it's one of the less appealing Green Man lineups BUT still plenty to look forward to ...
Thursday: Gentle Good, Sister Wives,
Friday: Beth Orton, Slowdive, Floodlights, Buck Meek, Juni Habel, Gently Tender
Saturday: Lankum (VERY excited for this) Courtney Marie Andrews, Lady Maisery, Spencer Cullum, Aoife Nessa Francis, The Wedding Present
Sunday: Amyl & Sniffers, Jake Xerxes Fussell, Corey Hanson,
Looks like I need some Sunday recommendations!!
My favourite discovery so far has been Floodlights. Their "Painting of my Time" album is excellent.
