Hi mate Still here but it's a bit dead innit? Even the spammers don't seem to bother anymore. Chris was thinking of relaunching this forum but has been too tied up with other projects. He's left me with the keys so to speak, but I haven't had the time to do anything either, and I'm not sure if it's possible to create a distinct identity here, given the fact that people will generally find the official one (as awful as it is) first. Any ideas?

Hi Peridot gather the Young Ms Cyfarthfa is in regular contact with the young Ms Peridot. Family opinion is divided over Van. Girls like him on disk,as do I, but I've been to couple of really duff shows. I hope the GM atmosphere gets to him. Are you going on the Monday this year? I'm not sure what we doing. Probably be back and fore like last year. I prefer this place to that place. Don't know why. I'll have a think.

Yes, they're looking forward to meeting up again this year. We'll be going on the Thursday. Hopefully we'll have another successful forum meet that evening.
I was surprised to see Van on the bill. He could be great but I'll not be expecting much to ensure that I'm not disappointed. I love most of his stuff although much of the more recent output has been rather pedestrian. He's always had a fondness for Wales and perhaps the spirit of GM will invigorate him. I've seen him many times and while the good outweigh the bad I had effectively written him off for any future gigs. In that respect I'm kind of glad not to have the make the choice where GM is concerned.
Can't really get into Feist either, although people do seem to rave about her live performances so we shall see. Liking lots and lots of the rest of the bill - it's going to be difficult to plan around the clashes.
I'll get around to updating the acts list for this year over the weekend and when we get to the stage of wanting to host stage lists etc. we should get a bit of attention over here. It's a much better forum structure so it would be good to keep it alive if we can.

Still pop in every now and again, not really posting much on official board as its turning into a reading/leeds/nme forum with a bad attitude--with some posters only believing their tastes matter and anybody elses should be shouted down.Sad really for a festival with such a friendly vibe but perhaps explains why few people post. As for the headliners, not really listened to much of Feist but her recent gigs have had glowing reviews so will listen to some this week.Van,well there always seems to be a mainstream act on the bill and if it sells tickets i've no problem with that but i feel abit unimaginative. But there is so much further down the bill i want to see i'm more than happy with the line up---even have to stay over monday night so i can enjoy the psyche night on sunday without thinking of driving home.

I think a big problem with the official forum is that it's not subdivided by topic and the slightly bizarre threads that we've all enjoyed creating and keeping alive will probably frighten off any newcomers.
I've often heard people complain about the difficulty in contacting the GM organisers and finding information. It's frustrating that this could all be solved by a sensibly constructed and moderated forum.
Ironically the reason they got jittery about this being the official forum was that people might discuss things like bringing alcohol into the stage areas and they couldn't guarantee that moderators would represent the 'official' line that's required to protect their licensing conditions. Yet this has been discussed openly in a recent thread without any moderator input.
