Christ! Good job the dates are wrong eh? Weren't those last year's dates - maybe it's last year's forecast?

Here's the Green Man one... www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/event_forecast.asp?eventID=431It did the same crazy stuff before Glastonbury, showing kilometers of rainfall and temperatures that would melt your face off. Interestingly, Metcheck's forecasts are no more likely to come true when they're trying! The weather will be better than last year. It can't not be.

The long-range forecasts have consistently pointed to a dry and warm second half of August and , although it's lashing down here in Brum as I write, we haven't had anywhere near the amount of rain we had in June-July 2007 and 2008 when half the country was under water. By the time it got to August it didn't take much to create soggy conditions underfoot. I know all about the Brecon micro-climate but I'm quietly confident of a much drier Green Man this year.

I note that the Met Office have now revised their forecast for August. It's now umbrellas, not barbies we'll all be needing. Ho hum.

After last year, I'm making darned sure that I'm prepared for even that level of rain again. There was a lot more sitting around the camp than expected last year, so I'm making sure that I can still have a good time if that happens again.

Ab-s0o-lutely.
Preparation is all, both mental and physical. I'm taking plenty of books and beer, and I don't mind getting wet. BUT my feeling is that we may, just may be lucky this time. AND that part of the Beacons (in my experience as an avid walker and cyclist based about 15-20 miles away) tends to be a bit drier than the forecast. Where I live is wetter than Brecon or Glanusk. Any wet weather tips then chaps?

I'll take that experienced view about above-average dryness.
My wet weather tip is if you take a gazebo to sit in if it rains, bear in mind that they aren't waterproof or designed for windy conditions. Last year I bought a tarpaulin from B&Q (less than a tenner) and some guy ropes (about a fiver I think). The tarpaulin became the gazebo's roof (waterproof) and the guy ropes made sure that it stayed up.
About ten of us could comfortable sit around in camping chairs underneath, it was well worth the effort.

Yup, that's a good tip. I've never gone for gazebos, but found the tarp modified with rivets along the sides and spare guy ropes and pegs very useful along with a decent quality windbreak. That also had the advantage that the shelter could be moved as the wind changed direction. It certainly tests your knotting skills! To be honest, I don't mind the rain too much, provided there's shelter, a bit of space to move in, hot food and a bit of warmth. Positive attitude helps don't you think... and whisky. Having said that the people we went with for the last two years have 'bailed out' as a result of the weather.

I'm with you all the way - I can handle the weather as long as I'm prepared for it. I enjoyed last year's Green Man enormously despite the change from watching bands in the sun to having a laugh under the gazebo. Whatever happens with the weather this year, I'm set up to enjoy a boozy camping holiday.

Somewhere somebody wrote that GM was like an assault course when it rained. If we get another wet one - I'll remember that when I'm dragging myself threw the mud.
This is going to be my third green man and I've not yet had a dry one.

I think whoever said that might be referring to the hill up the amphitheatre at the main stage. There's a sort of carpet thing there to help you get up, but when it's muddy it's like the Travelator from Gladiators
