Thinking of going to Greenman for the first time this year. I have been to numerous festivals over the years and one of my favourite parts has always been going back to the tent after the acts have finished and having a few beers around a campfire. I notice from the official rules that open fires are not allowed. How strictly is this rule applied at Greenman? Some festivals seem to be more strict than others in regards to this.
Thanks

They arrange for it to piss down all weekend to ensure there are no fires ;D
Never seen a fire on the campsite (though we camp in the family area) but there is a big communal fire (last year outside the Rumpus Room) that goes on all night.

Bear in mind that Glanusk Park is a park rather than a farmer's field like Glastonbury, so they don't want the ground peppered with blackened circles...
The FAQ on the official site says, "Because of the fire risk, no open fires or tinfoil barbeques are allowed on site. However, you may use camping stoves or barbeques on legs."

My Dad's just picked me up a portable folding barbecue for £4.88 at Lidl. I've had a look at pictures online and it looks pretty much ideal for festival purposes, and is surprisingly good for the price. The barbecue can be seen on the front cover and on page 18 of this brochure... www.flip100.net/scripts/showbook.asp?ID=10000213_967537&OpenDocument=

I was looking at those this morning, and nearly ordered one before my Dad called about the one he'd seen.
Looks good that one, like.

theres a really good camp fire there you dont need to have your own. Everyone goes around the big camp fire, theres no point Greenman is a big community and there is no point ruining it by breaking the justified rules

I went to the campfire in 2007, but not in 2008 because it was chucking it down. I'll be there this year.
Still taking my barbecue though, largely for cookery purposes.

The campfire is great... you can meet people there and have a singsong. More social and more responsible than loads of smaller camp fires. I cannot wait!
