Green Man esque bands like Akron/Family, Bowerbirds, Danielson, Death Vessel, Espers, Magnolia Electric Co, Mountain Goats, Okkervil River, Scout Niblett.

A trip back in time for Teenage Fanclub, Stereolab and the ultimate return from Jeff Magnum of Neutral Milk Hotel.

Personal Green Man heroes from the past like Viking Moses, Quasi, James Yorkston and Archie Bronson Outfit.

Something a little different in A Silver Mt Zion and CocoRosie.

Lastly, in my humble opinion one of the greatest bands of today Black Mountain and/or one of the many side bands Lightning Dust, Pink Mountaintops or Blood Meridian.

Some great suggestions here. If you are talking Nick Cave, you can do a lot worse than have one of his solo sets. He has played some amazing shows with just a piano and some occasional accompaniement by Warren Ellis.

And as for Black Mountain - absolutely. Their "In The Future" album is going to be very hard to beat as album of the year, even though it is very early days yet.
