Old member here. Just found this forum (I'd lost it) after someone linked it from the official one, great to see all the old posts/posters etc. My first time back at the GM after missing 2008 and 09. Bringing a new wee person for his first festival with mum and dad, hope he's not embarrassed.

Hi medler and welcome It used to be pretty active here when there was no forum on the Green Man site, but not so many people find it now. It's a pity, as the official forum is pretty basic, with no subdivision of topics and the history gets lost. There are a few of us who keep checking in here though so keep in touch.

Hey Mr Peridot thanks for your welcome and also for the acts with links real helpful. Have you any predictions for the remaining headliners? I personally would love to see PJ harvey (new album/tour) Gruff Rhys should be able to return(New album/tour). I was just thinking about 2008 line up of Spiritulized, SFA and Pentangle wow what a festival it just get's better and better( I need to calm down now)

Sounds like an excellent idea for a new tread in the 'Acts' forum. If it's okay I'll copy your post there and we can gaze into our crystal balls

"Lo,
I've just migrated from the other side. Sooo, this feels like a date. So yeah, I think I might qualify as the youth according to Ray and his comments on bands like Holy Fuck and other things I like but I don't know what young is anymore in this world.
But I'm a keen festival goer, let's say European festival goer, in the past few years, I've done the Pukkelpop, Dour in Belgium, the PrimaveraSound, the BBK Live and Sos4.8 in Spain as well as the Guilfest, the End of the Road in the UK. Now I'm bragging, let's move on...
Haven't done the GM yet although last year's line up was great. This year, I'm still wondering. The main reason is that last year I know maybe 80% of the line up and this year I'm probably on about 10%. I'm very busy with work since quitting my old job and all so I can't spend as much time listening to all this new stuff.
oh and 34-28-34. Actually that was supposed to be the date joke last line but I don't know the inches system thing so I guess it might fall flat

Hello there jol33n. welcome to 'the other place'. I definately do not qualify as youth! And hadn't been to festivals for years until Greenman. The bands are only part of it........ Greenman has a really good atmosphere and lots to do.

wait wait wait wait
I think there has been a misunderstanding on the young part. I just feel like I might be listening to music that is inappropriate for my age range. Maybe, it's the way I took it from Ray. Anyhoo. Lots of festivals, yes. I do like going around and discovering even though some of them are difficult to part from (I'm thinking of the primavera where I actually might make an appearance to this year again but can only afford....a mere 1 day).
Back on the GM discussion though: still not much that caught my eye, what's going on? The man thinks that they are reverting to a less commercially acclaimed line up. I think it's a pile of lies, it's not because I know names that they are commercially acclaimed. The man knows nothing.
What do you like on this line up? Why am I posting all this here when there's obvisouly a thread for it somewhere else?

Hi jol33n, Your in for a real treat if you haven't done GM before. It's magical. Even when muddy! It situated in an increadible valley. It's fantastic and that before the music. Everything just seems to come together.

Not come across the Avett Brothers before - where should I start? I picked up the 'I and Love and You' album after seeing them on the Glastonbury coverage last year. I haven't got around to exploring the back catalogue yet. There's a Live, Vol. 3 album been released subsequently that might be a good start.

Hi guys, just signed up to the main board and realised the first question I asked was answered here so I thought I should get involved(!). I'm not one to wish time away but am definately looking forward to the festival this year.
