We're planning on coming this year with our 3 & 6 year olds, together with friends and their two similarly aged kids.
They have a camper van, we have a land rover. We all want to camp together and next to the camper van.
Can we take the landy into the live in parking area so that it's next to our tent as well?
Thanks

You'd be best checking that with the festival directly, it may be a bit of a grey area. I assume you plan to sleep in the Land Rover, yes? Yes?

Hi bobsleigh and welcome Please excuse Chris - it's just that he hangs around with the sort of people who sleep in cars (sorry gaffer No doubt you are in fact taking advantage of the facility to pitch up to two 2-man or one 4-man tent adjacent to a live-in vehicle that's allowed by Green Man. Unfortunately you won't be able to bring your vehicle onto site also. You could meet up in the car park area and load as much as possible of your equipment into the camper van to save you having to lug it down to site and do the same in reverse on leaving. To be honest if, like last year, there's a drop of rain on one of the days you'll all benefit from having a vehicle in the car park as you won't be able to drive on and off the live-in area (to prevent it becoming too churned up).

Ok, seems fair enough
Having looked more at the forum it seems there is also a family camping area or is this the same as the live-in area ?
Finally, is there a map of the actual site itself - always useful!
Cheers

I assumed it was a Land Rover that had been converted into a live-in vehicle in some way. Sounds like it isn't, though, so I'll bow to Peridot's answer on this one.
There is a family camping area at the festival (or at least ther has been in the past), but it isn't the same thing as the live-in vehicle area.

Well we could actually get a tent that either sits on the roof of the landy or connects to the back
Not sure that counts though!
Suspect we'll just leave it in the main car park and join our friends

Well we could actually get a tent that either sits on the roof of the landy I've seen them - fantastic piece of kit Last year we camped alongside friends who have a folding camper in the 'live-in' area and it worked out really well. I may be wrong but the 'family' area appeared to be adjacent to the main entrance to the arena which is not ideal as it saw a lot of passing traffic. If I can find the programme from last year I'll scan in the map.

I've always fancied one of those Land Rover / folding house arrangements, hence my excitement earlier in the thread.
I do seem to recall awnings of various kinds being allowed if that's an option for you, bobsleigh.

Thanks both, very helpful
I think we'll stick to the live-in area, transfer the gear into our friends vw and camp alongside

Looks like I'm going to have to hire a camper. the Fishing Clwb was considering hiring a Luton box van that one could live in, pitch tents next to, set a sound system up in... I guess that's out?
If I pitched a Gazeebo on top of the Luton Van???

I'm pretty sure that the Luton box van arrangement would be bending the rules a little too much...

So the stolen Articulated Pantecnechon with Middle Eastern Loungebar themed Discotheque and in built bordello made from bits of a neighbours fence and a few mattresses is out to I guess, even if we pitch a tent on top of it. Thanks for the heads up Chris, how do I get my £35.00 back?
