Any other avid campers here?
The weather has curtailed activities a little this year, although I have been fairly lucky with the times I have chosen so far.
I'm still hoping to get a few weekends in before the dark and cold nights arrive.

I want to start camping more, I enjoy it... it's more difficult to persuade other people to spend time living in a tent without the incentive of bands though, but hopefully I'll have some luck!

I like camping and untill the kids came along used to go regualrly. They are reluctant campers, and will only camp for the greenman. However, the theft of our old tent has meant the purchase of a new, flashy one, which we are keen to test out. So I am insisting on a couple of nights in Talybont this weekend- the bribe being meals in a pub. I havn't mentioned the hillwalking to them yet.

Out of interest, which tent did you go for? I'm thinking of getting a new one for next year.

meeeee!!!!!. we went up to snowdonia after the festival and had a lovely time. found a nice little camp site with a lovely river flowing next to it. the only unfortunate thing about camping in england or wales is that strictly speaking, wild camping is illegal. unfortunate because its my favourite way to camp, the wild is much better than a campsite, even though you have to act like a bear in the woods we had a week's camping just before we went to the green man. i've got some pics up here. s200.photobucket.com/albums/aa254/yanianyan/we have friends coming over from australia in september and we plan to go back to the same spot. the best thing about camping is that me and my girlfriend never argue, ever!!! once we get back to the city the tension starts..GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!! to cities i want to live in a tent. maybe one day.

Pencelli Castle is good- but probably full by now, so I'll do some searching and sort something out when I get home. Awhy couldn't we have had this weather a couple of days ago.

I found Tentastic on Ebay were outstanding - I got a 6-berth RAGE Lofoten (rrp c. £250) for £60 including 24 hours p&p. Truly one of my best Ebay bargains ever. Now if only I can get the thing dried out......

In addition to excellent taste in music, you have excellent taste in tents cyfarthfa We have a Diablo 600, which we use for longer camping trips. I've yet to see a better large tent (in a sensible price bracket anyway). We also have a Cabanon Pacific lightweight frame tent, which is a thing of beauty. We took that to Greenman, together with a seperate ulility tent. Then for overnighters and the like we use a Vango Venture 500. I did mention we were keen

hello, avid camper here. we just got back from a couple of nights in Rhosgoch at new house farm. If you like basic, this is a great site. £3.50 pppn includes hot shower (tho it is dirty, the post festival wash was a luxury as no rushing to make the most of your coinage) and there is a communal campfire area. It was a bit windy (though this aided the fire) and the hills around are lovely.

New Tent arrives tommorow. Have decided to up the mountain saturday/sunday to a place I used to camp years and years ago, with a bottle or two of Bow, a pack of sausages and a loaf of bread and relive my youth. Although in better company. Only problem is the walks a bit harder than the Greenman! Used to spend ages camping in the summer. Didn't need a tent in warm weather. Used to get pissed and not notice if it rained.

I'm getting a bit fed up with campsites starting to charge more than some budget hotels, while in some cases still offering very basic facilities.

Nope. I got a wife and kids for that.
I stroll behind smoking a pipe pointing out interesting ferns and such.
It was the beer talking. I'm just going to pitch in field behind my mams house.

The bloody tent didn't turn up..... $£$£S internet shopping. I suggested taking BinBags up to Ponstic but no one was into it. So I kipped in the garden and got shat on by a pidgeon.

Hope your tent has arrived by now cyfartha.
I've now aquired a Dandy folding camper to go with the tent collection. Off tomorrow morning to give it a go for an extended weekend.
Looking forward to the 'live-in vehicles' field at GM next year!
