When is the 2009 Green Man Festival?
The dates for 2009 are 21/22/23 August. For anyone with a standard festival ticket the campsite opens on 20th August. This year (2009) it is possible to camp from Monday 17 August by advance purchase of additional £30 'Holiday' ticket.
Where is the 2009 Green Man Festival?
The festival takes place in truly gorgeous surroundings, at Glanusk Park, Brecon Beacons, South Wales. There are mountains, and nice parky bits, and strings of lights.
How do I get a ticket for the 2009 Green Man Festival?
Tickets for the Green Man Festival 2009 are available online at www.thegreenmanfestival.co.uk/tickets/ or from Ticketline at greenman.ticketline.co.uk/
What is the capacity for the Green Man Festival 2009?
The expectation is that the capacity will be 10,000 for this year's festival, which is the same as it was in 2007/2008.
How far is it from the car park to the camping area?
Depending on where you camp, it can be a bit of a hike. Last year, with the mud and hangover, getting back to the car with a load of gear was a bit of a nightmare.
If you take a camper van / caravan / trailer tent you can avoid this problem, but may need a tow out if the site turns muddy. The additional fee for a live-in vehicle includes a provision for a tow-out to be provided if necessary so do not pay any further charge for this service.
What are the toilets like at Green Man?
Superb by festival standards. Plenty of that antibacterial gel stuff, the toilets flush, and they are pretty darned clean, too. Only the mud in previous years made them a bit, well, muddy for the last day or two. And yes, it was definitely mud, I tasted it.
There are also showers, which again are of a very high standard for a festival.
Handy Hint: You may want to pack a pair of flip flops or something for the shower in case it gets muddy again. In the closing stages of the 2008 festival, washing your feet became something of a pointless gesture when stepping out of the shower in bare feet meant getting them immediately muddy again.
Is the 2009 festival sold out?
Only the 'early bird' tickets offered after the 2008 festival have sold out. General tickets went on sale 2 March. If previous years are anything to go by, it will sell out, though, so don't leave it too late.
What's all this about mud?
At the last two year's festivals, it rained heavily on the Saturday, and so it got a bit muddy. This is always going to be a possibility at an outdoor event in the United Kingdom, so the wise would pack some wellies or something just in case.
On the upside, the mud was an intriguing reddish colour, and with the site being parkland, it wasn't the sort of extreme mud that you may have heard about at other festivals. We might even get dry weather this year.
