Thoughts?
Not a lot I'm super-duper excited by, but that's decent enough I think. And I really didn't expect to ever see King Creosote at GM again.

yeah - underwhelming at first look
but that's because we always look at the headliners first
almost none of whom i ever watch
of this year's, only hopkins will see me at the mountain stage
and sleaford mods can fuck the fuck off on thursday
disappointed not to see bat for lashes or jessica pratt on there
and can't see any reason why either wouldn't be announced yet
a fair amount to like as you scroll down, though
very happy with KC, john francis flynn, malice K, julia holter, lonnie holley, marta del grandi, the mary chain, brown wimpenny & the new eves
and more to come, of course

Yeah, the headliners are VERY 'meh'
Lots on the undercard. Which, if it was a few years ago, would be great! Now we (me and my partner) are merely glorified slaves to our bloody kid. So chances on watching the undercard are hit & miss (although we DID see a fair bit in far out, thanks to platform access keeping the kid sweet). I guess it depends on who is headlining the other 2 stages.
But......a bit frustrated really.

Agree re. headliners except for Big Thief who I love.
Lots of Irish representation this year. One leg one eye is Ian from Lankum.

Not hugely exciting but enough to fill a pleasant weekend all the same. Don't think I'll be present this year as me and the other half are pondering re-living our heavy youth at ArcTangent which is on the same weekend as Green Man. A relatively short journey between the two for Explosions in the Sky who are playing both festivals.

Really cannot understand Sleaford Moss being headliners but if it is for the Thursday night then fair enough, sure will find something to enjoy elsewhere (cannot remember, was the Mountain stage playing on the Thursday last year?)
Explosions in the sky have been demoted from headline status (although they may still headline the far out). Really did not get them when they played before (a load of self indulgent wank imho - although others may think otherwise).
But plenty to keep me entertained so, with the exception of Big Thief, GM can shove the headliners up his…. I will be enjoying plenty on the other stages and in earlier time slots

Have to say that with the stage set for a decemberists, maribou state dreamland, I don’t think I’ve ever been more disappointed with a festival lineup. I’m sure I’ll get myself into my research and it’ll click but wow what a disappointing first announcement considering the artists that are in the area at the right time and haven’t been announced

7/10 - decent overall.
Lonnie Holley and Julia Holter two of my favourite artists of all time so they’re the two acts I’m sad to be missing out on this year as I can’t go.
Lots of other stuff I’d want to see but also not huge draws either.
Big Thief are maybe my favourite “band” but have seen them a few times before so…

Generally rather underwhelmed though never that fussed about the headliners.
Would like to have seen more folky stuff (eg Chris Brain, Katherine Priddy, Toby Hay, Jim Ghedi, David Ian Roberts) maybe more jazzy stuff too. I thought Large Plants and The Clientele would be shoe-ins this year. Was hoping for the likes of Ryley Walker, Steve Gunn, Joan Shelley, Bill Callahan.
All a bit 6 Music daytime for my liking.
Still there’s Big Thief, Ezra Collective, Arlo Parks, Osees, Devendra, This is the Kit, Johnny Flynn, Tinariwen, HftRR, Beak, N’Famady Kouyate, Georgia Ruth, Cowbois, Islet, Cerys Hafana, Pys Melyn to look forward to and I’m sure I’ll find some more.
And Kenny and Johnny on the same bill! Call security!

Greetings all! I've been out of the loop a bit recently as life has been unhelpfully busy but looking forward to some sunshine emerging and happy times in green fields. I actually missed out on tickets for this year in the now to be expected ticketing fuck-up, but have been accepted to steward so paying with my time instead. I think the line-up suits that arrangement .. nothing much bad on it but nothing I'd be in tears over missing. I'll be hoping not to miss Big Thief, Osees, Nadine Shah, Cowbois, Islet, John Francis Flynn, and a few others including KC himself. I've been patiently explaining to a couple of people recently why there is no chance of him being at Green Man and now my credibility is ruined Looking forward to seeing what Chai Wallahs and Rising bring to the party and to the excellent tips from you good folk. Been a good week all in all .. on top of the GM lineup there's been the announcement of Ezra's return to these shores in July, the opportunity to begin populating my 2025 gig calendar with Fish's farewell tour, and tonight we have The Bug Club opening a new music venue in my adopted home town of Newport. With so many venues closing, this is good to see so hopefully it will do well.

Is that the new Corn Exchange? Not yet been to Le Pub either but have realised how convenient it will be to catch the Newport train from Chepstow and with two great venues, I need to start checking out what is coming up. Be good to hear what the Corn Exchange is like.

Sound was good. Bar is Camden beers .. could be worse I suppose. The Bug Club were excellent. Nothing much of interest in future as yet hopefully that will change.

There seems to be much more happening at Le Pub, including Brown Horse who are appearing at Green Man, have been recommended and quite enjoying listening to. Glad that Bug Club were good, local band to Chepstow and part of a music scene which has blossomed thanks to the Land Lady of the Five Alls pub

Plenty there for me. I always have a wonderful week regardless of the line-up. When there is a scarcity of performers I know and like, I.just do more homework.
My must sees this year will be: Jon Hopkins Ezra Collective Big Thief KC Johnny P This is the Kit Beak> John Max Cooper Osees Nadine Fat Whites Johnny Flynn BCNR
And I'm really enjoying the GM playlist... so probably many more by the time I'm sitting in a Welsh field with a chilled glass of wine.

I don’t really get Jon Hopkins, surprised he’s headlining. What should I be listening to?
The new Cowbois Rhos Bottwnog album is a cracker. One of my must-sees. I’m assuming they’ll be headlining the now traditional Welsh-fest in the Walled Garden on Thursday probably with Cerys Hafana, Gillie and Pys Melyn. If so that’ll be my highlight I reckon.

From the playlist I have created, there are plenty of new discoveries looking forward to seeing. Especially Muireann Bradley, one fantastic album, incredible guitar playing, singing and covering plenty of old US classics. She was a highlight of Jool’s Hootenanny and listening to her album realise what an amazing talent she is. Definitely on my must see list.

Yeah, I think there's a tonne of good stuff.
Big Thief I'm thrilled about. I think they'll really flourish in a headline slot. Jon Hopkins I love, in certain moods. Possibly not festival with kids moods, but we'll see... And I'm Sampha-curious.
Funnily enough, it's the rest of the Bill that looks less flashy to me - possibly no-one jumps out that I'd be upset about missing, and it may be the first year that has happened, but having had a pootle through the playlist there's almost nobody I don't quite fancy seeing either (Sleaford Mods and Fat White Family aside). And it's definitely the first year that has happened. I've already had to prune my own playlist twice, to have any hope of making a real dent in it.
Ones I'm trying to make a good-sized dent in before August: - Mannequin Pussy - Omar Souleyman - Julia Holter - Wednesday - Hurray for the Riff Raff - Tinariwen - Sheer Mag - Blondshell - Lonnie Holley - The Mary Wallopers - Jess Williamson - Ye Vagabonds - Brown Horse - Malice K - Hotline TNT - Sheer Mag
I'm curious about the talk of beef around KC and GM / Johnny Flynn. What's the story there?

I don’t really get Jon Hopkins, surprised he’s headlining. What should I be listening to? Well I actually think the best thing he's done is the record with King Creosote, Diamond Mine. But God knows what his part of that was; it's certainly closer to KC's back catalogue than his! Of the actual Jon Hopkins stuff, I'd suggest Singularity. If that works, Immunity. And if that works, Insides. Each of those, and especially the first two, are absolutely incredible pieces of work. There's a really good Song Exploder podcast about one of the tracks off Singularity, that might help make a bit more sense of it. But I've no idea what his headline show will look like, and my key Jon Hopkins moments are very hungover mornings in unfamiliar cities. So I say all of this in service of more general edification than by way of saying he'll be great on the Mountain Stage!
