Hi all, we're a family of 4 coming along to GM24 with Settlers tickets, but we failed (like a lot of people, judging by this forum!) to get live-in vehicle tickets. So we've got Settlement car parking instead & hoping to pick up a campervan one nearer the time.
We're quite happy camping but our last visit (2010!) was pre-kids so distances for walking didn't really matter as much! Can any recent Green-Manners advise how close the settlement parking is to the campsite? And is the campervan field further away than the regular camping? From an older map (2015 I think) it looks like the campervan field is actually nearer to the arena than the settlement camping/stage/car-park?
Any advice/reassurance gratefully received! We will probably still go for a campervan ticket via Twickets/Fanticks but it would be good to know how much difference it makes to site logistics!
Thanks all - very excited to be coming back! Headliners in 2010 of black person/Flaming Lips/Joanna Newsome were pretty special :-) x

Settlement camping and car parking are quite close to each other (although you can go further if you really want to have more space and be further from the arena etc). Certainly much closer and convenient than the main weekend car park where you probably parked before. Good luck on getting a camper van ticket, these appear to be like gold dust, selling out in minutes and no end of requests for a possible resale. FYI, the camper van site is located in between the settlement car park and settler camping. Accessible camping (including camper vans) is closer to the arena (as it should be) and may be the area showing on the 2015 map. Chances are, you will be camping and, apart from the hassle of pitching up and taking down, will consider this is the best place to be for the whole week.
Agree that the Flaming Lips were pretty special, all those years ago but, black person??? And Joanna Newsome???

Ok thanks Mikey, that's really helpful. Sounds like camping will be just fine and I won't spend all weekend carrying stuff to and from the car!
I'll be honest and say my memory of black person isn't great (overdid the Friday night a bit I think :-)) & Joanna Newsome was more to my partner's tastes, but the line-up at the time was certainly different from most other festivals and it had a really good vibe about it. We certainly had a great time and have been wanting to come back for a while with the sprogs. See you there!

Had me excited for a moment that somebody other than me enjoyed that black person set. Oh well. Really don't get the Joanna Newsom thing though- pleased I saw Efterklang instead who were an unexpected highlight. Recall that being a great Saturday: gmassets.greenman.net/site/assets/files/1029/poster-2010.700x0.jpg?format=webp&quality=70&metadata=0&nearlossless=1And yeah, you'll find that everything's busier and slightly bigger than 2010 but even with kids you're never really camped more than a 10 minute walk from the stages, and it's 10 minutes slow walk to the stage at the top once you're there. The only really long distance is from the non-settlement car park. So if you've got a settler's ticket you can't go wrong.
