I think the fee for a caravan or campervan was £30 this year.
-what did we get for this? Considering live-ins bring all their own stuff and take it away again, what are we paying for? Some places like Larmer Tree provide a black tank for dumping waste. -isn't it unfair for single people in a VW vs a huge motorhome of five? -why did the field have to be filled from the back? So if you bothered to come early you were expected to park the furthest away! Overall I thought the admin for campervans was poor. Cracking music though.

I always thought that the extra fee for live-in vehicles at festivals was something to do with the extra space they take up when compared to a tent, and the potential damage to the site from all those wheels.

This year you were allowed two 2-man tents or one 4-man tent adjacent to the 'live-in' vehicle. We went with friends in a folding camper and pitched our tent opposite. Together with a couple of windbreaks we had a nice little estate of our own.
The biggest advantage for us was being able to drive on and off the site and not have to lug all the equipment to and from the car park - well worth the extra in our case, but I take your point about single campervan owners.
We did also refuse to go down the back and pitched up at the top of the field.
Having now acquired an aged folding camper, we'll be in the live-in field again next year. If the accompanying tent arrangements are the same I may be in a position to offer selected forum members the privilege of pitching next to us ;D

I would happily pay the extra purely to be able to drive on and off without all the lugging. I like the idea of being able to take a few comforts along without the attendant hassle.

And I can assure you that your 'few comforts' and a few dozen more are just the beginning of mrs peridot's 'essentials' list ;D
