Hello all I was just wondering how things have altered since 2009 ( my last greenman) I had noticed a few changes when I was there last, such as the addition of a few bars and position of the acoustic satge which was great. I guess I'm just really excited about it all. as I will be missing next year due to getting married on the same weekend, anyway really glad this forum is still going strong .

Hi riceylad I think the layout last year was much the same as 2009. They did move the 2nd stage over to where the bonfire is. I think in 2009 there was a problem with it clashing with the cinema and literature tents. Other than that they had video screens beside the main stage and a few general improvements in the organisation. Oh and it rained quite a bit, but I think that's the rule rather than the exception that was 2009. I'm sure there'll be a few more changes this year to keep us all on our toes. Most of the banter is over on the official forum on the main GM website at the moment. As bad as the forum system is, it tends to be the first place that people find. The 'regulars' still check in here though, and we know we'll be glad of it in the aftermath of the festival when all the disgruntled lot start whinging over there. I must condemn your bad planning for 2012 - If you have to get married that weekend you should be doing it at GM. Just think what a reception it would be Congratulations none the less and see you around.

One problem was that the old layout seemed to have maximum human traffic at the lowest point of the site, so that the ground got chewed up as the run off from higher ground collected there. Thought the video screens were quite nice, and the bars were really good, esp the one right down the bottom by holiday camping- perhaps it might be an idea to have a couple of quiet acoustic sessions down there for those of us of a nervous disposition. A sort of 'quietly far out after dark'.
The official forum is weired isn't it? Everything swings along nicely then suddenly it kicks off like a Friday night in Merthyr. I do have my doubts about the soundness of Mr. Day-Lewis.

I seem to remember that an informal acoustic session often started up around the campfire, which the relocation of the far-out tent kinda put paid to. It would be a good idea to have somewhere to gather if the 'after dark' activities are keeping us all awake. Although I have to say that I hardly noticed any noise last year. Myself and daughter are normally fairly done in by the time the evening headliner has finished anyway.
There's a few narky sods in the other place all right. And yes, I sometimes get the impression that guy really believes he IS Day-Lewis.

The main thing I remember from last year was the screen for the main stage. Not essencial by I like it. Also there has been a great improvement with floor matting they've put down.
That valley is breathtaking. I love going back.
Riceylad - how about getting married and going to GM ? !
Re: other forum - Walter the mod/dog has grown on me. Do you think he wants to get into dog dental advertising?

Yeah, forgot the matting and walkways - they did help a lot. I love the buildings and courtyards on site - they add something special to the atmosphere. I'm a bit puzzled by Walter. Those little dogs are normally very yappy but he's pretty quiet. Not too sure what the moderation policies are either - when this forum was briefly 'official' there was a list of rules that were to be applied but I've seen a few of them breached over there with not even a woof from the toothy one. I wish him luck with the post-festival whinge-a-thon - I reckon he'll be pitching a kennel over here for refuge

Yes there does seem to be "a few narky sods" acrros the way. Lucky they are not truely representative of the GM crowd. I've just remembered last year there was the face in the tree. (No I was not on something !)
It's funny what one loves at GM. Darkness when if falls. I love the blue butterflies by the river. The mist coming down the mountain. I sound corny... but you know what I mean. I love the lights when they come on. It's magical.
I suppose dogs are quite tolerant as they get blamed for everything. I felt quite envious of the hound when he posted a picture of himself in a field at Glanusk. It must be fantastic there when it is quiet.

Indeed, I've retired from the 3-page thread.
Another change is that there is now a second entrance between the stages and camping: it's round the other side of the main stage.

Excitment update for anyone intrested, like so many of you I have just started fishing the tent, stove etc out of cellar etc. And I became very excited and aware I was very soon heading back to Glansk. This has caused me to have a rest and check the fourm out. I notice a few tickets for sale, hope it's not the weather putting folks off. I have not really studied the weather forcast on purpose, just going with the flow, but packing two pairs of wellies two waterprooofs etc anyways if your reading this have an amazing GM see yo down the front

Yeah, I can't get on there. I think the traffic is very heavy.

Funny isn't it- doesn't seem so long ago that there were messages about tumbleweeds blowing through the official forum! Whole days where little would happen... except on the mighty Word Association thread.

The official forum is accessible again - sort of. It's painfully slow at the best of times and even worse than usual at the moment. I think it runs on a Sinclair Spectrum or something I just wish they'd embed some proper forum software on their website, to give sub-forums, search facility, attachment upload etc.

Ah the trusty reliable old forum! It works! Had planned to keep dipping into the forum to keep the ANDRMW thread going inbetween packing the car and cleaning the gerbils out - what a time for the site to crash. On a positive note the latest weather forecasts are looking good. Careful with that twee stuff sugarkane, you do realise that peridot moderates this forum!

Balanced diet! Just squeezed a flagon of Weston's Original Cider into the boot. Christ that tent's big - even when it's packed!
