Not really familiar with them though have just had a listen on spotify and can imagine them being perfect in the right conditions (i.e. a balmy night in August under the stars rather than standing in heavy drizzle). Surprised they've been chosen as headliners though. Better than last year's Friday night headliners!

I'm glad it's not just me then . I didn't expect my reaction to a headliner announcement to be - 'who???' Time to discove some more new music then

My reaction is also "who???"
I'm like that with a number of the acts each year and enjoy looking them up, but it's the first time I've had to do that with a main stage headliner!
I don't really care for Fleet Foxes either.
Ah well, I'm sure I'll still have a great time and The Comedy Tent is nice of an evening.

i saw them at the garage in highbury by accident a few years ago as adem was supporting them
and was blown away
he's good mates with them as they'd done a US tour together and lived in the same van for a couple of months
though musically i can't say they have a lot in common
seemed like nice guys anyway - and the music was grand - in an overwhelming wall of sound kind of way - while still being intricate and beautiful
they were part of that whole math rock thing that happened for a bit
saw them again somewhere else (astoria...?) and they weren't loud enough - and lost something in the shift to a larger venue
so i wonder about them as a main stage headliner
they'll need to be stupidly loud
and i think there are rules about that now, no?
but who knows
if they pull it off, they'll be great

I also haven't got a clue who they are, but it seem that way for most of the bands I hear at GM. I got used to that being part of the fun.

I think they will definitely be HL material and anyone who f*** off while they play will be named a donkey. By me. As the GM is a medium sized festival, it fits perfectly. As any other post rockish band, I find the music to be very endearing, emotional and excellent live. I hope that the sound does them justice though. And I hope for some light show or something. If you don't know them, think MONO, Mogwai, Sigur Ros.

I've been doing some listening and I likes them very much Still wouldn't have thought of them as main stage headliners, however I'll be there come rail or shine to be convinced otherwise. They'll be a lot better than Doves were in any case
