Oh - thought of a wee tip - in advance of going, mooch around the Myspace sites of the bands you don't know about so you can plan who to see. And last year the Folkie Dokie tent got PACKED OUT at night so be aware of this when goimnng to catch the Headliney acts like King Creosote. Remember that there are links to the bands myspaces and websites in the "Full Line Up With Links" thread under "Acts", right here at your friendly neighbourhood Unofficial Green Man Festival Forum.

Once drove all the way from Brum to WOMAD, just off the motorway and ' you've got the tickets haven't you?' . . .'er, no'. Blazing hot, two round trips in a clapped-out Renault 5, pitched the tent by 8.30pm (having left originally at about 10.00am). I was the one who asked, 'you've got the tickets, haven't you?' at the Reading roundabout. How we laughed! I know there is more than one roundabout in Reading, but the roundabout was vital, we just went aaaalllllll the way round.

Don't leave your tent at the festival. It's lazy, wasteful and unkind on the tidy-uppers. I saw something advertised the other day as a 'disposable tent'. I mean what? The world has surely gone mad. A tent is not a disposable item.

A tent is not a disposable item. not so. my girlfriend is a member of a pyrotechnic and physical performance thearte group who play glastonbury most years and they usually leave a few days after the normal punters, she then gets her choice of tents, last year we had a lovely 3 man tent for the greenman, courtesy of people leaving their tents. recycling at its best. ;D

brilliant, I like that type of story. Sadly though, I reckon there are still a fair few tents left after sensible people like your lady take their pick.
I just think it's a shame there are so many people who will just chuck. Wombling is great, but requires people with a non-re-using (i.e. wasteful) mindset, don't you think?

we didn't leave glasto till 8pm on the monday evening this year, and we had a great womble.... we found almost 3 full crates of ale like bottled becks ... loads of snacky stuff..... also we had our pick of quality tents, my mate went away with a brand new family sized tent, we checked the price when we got back £289.00 (argos) and the new one I got was worth £70.00, yes we did dismantle our original tents, before anyone starts....

Wasn't there a place to be able to recycle tents at Glasto? Like, give them to needy people?
Pretty bad how people would just leave them without making the slight effort to take it to the place for the recycling.
