Seasick Steve was on Jules Holland last night, slidin' away. How about some more Blues this year- any of the Fat Possum artisits would be good, esp. James Belfour. V good trance blues.
Just been listening to the Hand/Eye compilation lots of good stuff.
Happy New Year all.

Hell yeah - if Blues isn't folk music I don't know what is.
I love Blues, me.

Couldn't agree more. It was hearing Mississippi John Hurt singing 'Stagolee Blues' when I was about ten on one of my Dads records got me interested in this folk stuff. I'd never heard anything like it. I spent my adolescence trying to learn to fingerpick it as fast as he did, and never could. I think him, Blind Lemon Jefferson and Etta Baker are my idea of guitar 'heroes'. Would've loved to have seen them, but I'd be happy with even one good contemporary blues man/woman.

I think Tom Petty said folk music was best described as "music for folks."
I like that.
