please please please. i read your post on the other thread krasnyi, phew 1977 and all that. excellent stuff. i first saw him in 1984 in glasgow, they did the whole show without a PA, using the floorboards as percussion. i met him after and had a great chat with him for about 15 minutes (he told some other bloke to come back later as he was talking to me...ME. saw him 5 or 6 times since, all great, all very different. my hero, the reason i started playing music, playing in bands was mainly because of the rock and roll with the modern lovers lp. so..............jo and danny
PLEASE.

Not as experienced as you two but would love to see jonathan again and at green man would be perfect. I can just imagine it in the sunshine (ice cream man with a record beating no of reprises) or even in the rain or mud. It would be a three line whip for the kids no matter what time he was on.

Monkey Swallows the Universe are covering Ice Cream Man - it will be the 'b-side' (if there is such a thing anymore) of their next single.

Wow! Yeah, Jonathan Richman. I just posted something suggesting him (along with several other artists) before reading this. He'd work perfectly at Green Man.

Saw him at the Elephant Fayre festival in deepest Cornwall yonks ago, must have been the very early 80s. The Fall were headlining if I remember correctly, which is quite rare.
They were one of the best festival acts I have seen. Not The Fall, JR & the Modern Lovers.

How cool is that?! I did once touch his sleeve at Birmingham Academy 2. Looks like we'll have to give up on the idea of JR at GM this year now. The JR for GM 2009 campaign starts soon!
